This Saturday, March 2nd we in the Hudson Valley Irish Center (HVIC) are hosting a Round Table discussion with our Historians & Librarians at 210 6th Street, Verplanck.
The main purpose of this meeting is to organize, structure and develop a fully functioning Irish Cultural Library at the Hudson Valley Irish Center. To date a beautiful set of oak book shelves have been installed by Cathal McGreal of Hibernian Wood Design.
Many boxes of books have been donated by the Irish Echo editor Ray O’Hanlon and his wife Lisa, also Colonel Robert Bateman, and HVIF cofounder Ray Bermingham and others from their private collections.
In addition to organizing the Library we should initiate a series of “Lectures on Irish History” at the Hudson Valley Irish Center and at the other AOH & LAOH Centers throughout Westchester County.
Dan Dennehy, Chairman of the Hudson Valley Irish Fest Inc. said, ” Entering the 5th Anniversary year of our Hudson Valley Fest, we are delighted to have this year round Irish Cultural Center where we are able to host an Irish American cultural library and some of our regions great historians, musicians and writers. We look forward to another exciting year of programs here at the Hudson Valley Irish Center and at the Fest on Saturday, September 21st.”
